In the period from June 1, 2009 through May 31, 2010, WACA co-sponsored the Maryland Hispanic Business Conference, “the premier Hispanic Business event in the entire area, serving more than 21,000 Hispanic businesses and job seeking candidates in Maryland.”
WACA also partnered with the Montgomery County Public Schools Career Development Internship Program to sponsor one intern during the period January to June, 2010. Similar to the 2009 internship program, WACA staff spent approximately 3 hours a day with the student, five days a week, to prepare him for the field of broadcast communications, which included production, board operation, and sound editing. For the 2010 intern, the station also arranged off-site computer engineering assistance and training for information technology so he could learn to update and maintain the station’s newly redesigned web site.
